     Pierre Gagnon was laborer at LaGaignonniere. He The three brothers Gnagnon, Mathurin, Jean and Pierre, who in 1635 came to Canada were from Tourouvre in the former French province of Perche. These three brothers got along wonderfully, and are found together in all the transactions they did. "The Gagnon brothers" or "The Sirs Mathurin, Jehan and Pierre Gagnon," as they were called, bought, built and sold still together. They were after all a true family company.

After a while lived in Quebec City, where they had built a house in the Lower Town, the three brothers went Gagnon settle on the coast of Beaupré in this part that would later become the parish of Chateau - Richer.

It was John who married first. On July 29, 1640, he married Marguerite Cochon. This example was his brother Peter, who two years later, September 14, 1642, married Margaret Desvarieux.

The Gagnon brothers left descendants remarkably large. It is true they were, respectively, all three of the prominent families. Mathurin, although having married late, had up to fifteen enfants.Il was sixty-one years at the birth of her last Joseph.Pierre raised a family of ten, and John, more modest estimates have done his duty after having had eight. This was still a total of thirty-three little Gagnon.

In 1940 a plaque was erected in Chateau-Richer to commemorate the tercentenary of the arrival of the three brothers Jean and Pierre Mathurin Gagnon.
